The Charm of 'Pelaris'

The other day I wanted to blog about it but I was too occupied with something else thus it delay this posting. So, here it goes…

…little that I knew some of my post does attract some of my silent reader to leave comment in my blog (applies to those who dare and those who doesn’t dare, they would just sit back and bitching about it behind my back) and also some of them do condemn or disagree with me on some of the post that I wrote.

Well, that’s just part and partial of a blogger life, I said. :)

Honestly, whatever the comment are; be it positive, encouraging, motivating, inspiring or sarcastically the comments are, I am still ok with it. It is just a comment and it’s up to me to take it seriously or not.

When I give any comments or reviews on anything, I might have given a high expectation to my readers to try or to experience it themselves. Or to certain extend it makes me look like heavily promoting on something (blame that on my review skills).

One of it (the post) is my entry on Nasi Lalapan.

Apparently, one of my silent readers (as what I thought but he/she might know me in person and want to remain anonymous) left a pretty harsh and funny comment in my Nasi Lalapan’s post entry. It says…

“It was nothing like dat when i ordered nasi lalapan in surabaya yesterday. The sambal was horrible, the fish was not fresh and was too salty. Unlike in other places, there wasnt any beancurd and or 'tempe' served with the dish, so for RM10 per plate of only 4 type of raw vege and a fried fish is darn expensive. maybe its true, some people said you only go there cos dah kena pelaris. Obviously u go all out to promote the place so may be u dah kena also. No offence... Nasi lalapan is better at Damai Setia or Muara. The service is all the same. In any muslim shop, the restaurant staff are always "too timing" so there's no difference in terms of services. As long as the food is good then its ok. Btw. nasi lalapan is cheaper in damai setia. Muara will charge u like its a plate of gold... Bon apetit...”

Just to enlighten to my readers who may not know or understand the meaning of ‘pelaris’. Based on what been told by others who know about ‘pelaris’, it’s a black magic practice and usually ‘pelaris’ come in a form of ‘under-wear’. The spells would put upon the ‘under-wear’ and some says the food operator would hang it under the kitchen hud, some says the ‘under-wear’ will be placed in the soup (which I find quite ridiculous) and some says the ‘under-wear’ would be hang at the entrance of the shop.

The main purpose of this practice is to get their customer to keep on coming back to dine at their place.

I begin to ponder what makes the shop operator to opt for such option? Are they not confident enough on their food and services?

Well, I beg your pardon here before you condemn me for being racism or anti-religion but one obvious thing I do noticed in this matter is that the ‘pelaris’ practice exist mostly among the muslim food operators in Miri (especially those outlets that sells nasi lalapan dish or some might be just rumours to bad mouth the outlet operators). Never had I heard the power of ‘pelaris’ is being practiced by others apart from the mentioned community.

On the funny but realistic side of it, I believe every food operators are also practicing ‘pelaris’. Just that they wear their under-wear inside their pants or skirts and they don’t hang ‘em at the kitchen hud, at the shop entrance or put ‘em on their head while preparing the food.

True or false? It's your call. ;p

And I come to think also that whenever a food outlets makes you wanna go back there to dine again and again, that might be due to the power of ‘pelaris’. Just like some of us craving or dying to go back and dine at KFC, McDonald, Pizza Hut, Fratinni Pizza, SugarBun, San Fransciso Coffee, Secret Recipe, Starbuck and CoffeeBean. But then again, these are franschise outlets and are they practicing ‘pelaris’ too? I thought the ‘pelaris’ is only practiced by the locals?

My answer would be YES simply because the staffs are wearing under-wear, well most of us would wear under-wear on daily basis what. Do you? ;p

The thing here is when you are happy with the food (be it in anything), with the provided services you’ll definitely go back to dine again and again at the place. When you say the foods are tasty, delicious, big portion, cheap, excellent services may not be the same to others as our preferences on things may varies.

What is good to me may not be good to you. The choice is yours.

Happy week end peeps.

ps – as im writing this entry, im wearing an under-wear and rest assured the blog of mine is free from ‘pelaris’, serious.

pss – wonder the ‘pelaris’ practitioners uses what brand and what size of under-wear. wonder they wanna accept g-strings or not as I have plenty used and un-used g-strings. ;p
